According to industry experts, the implementation of Device Identification, Record and Detection System (DRPS) has led to a significant increase in the legal import of mobile devices.

In addition, it has helped set up more than 33 local mobile device assembly plants.

These plants have produced over 25 million mobile devices including 4G smartphones.

With the successful implementation of DIRPS, the local assembly industry has evolved since childhood to a well-developed stage, with significant growth in local assembly of smart phones.

In 2019, only 119,639 smartphones had accumulated domestically, and by 2020 the number of such devices had increased to 2.1 million.

Due to this effect of DRPS, the Government of Pakistan has introduced a comprehensive mobile manufacturing policy to promote and attract goods to Pakistan and upgrade their plants.

The PTA has issued regulations related to mobile device manufacturing (MDM) and has started accepting mobile device manufacturing applications.

This initiative will help generate more employment in this technology sector, as well as help consumers buy locally manufactured mobile devices.

Accordingly, to remove this discrepancy and restrict the registration of mobile phones against passports in one package, the WebOC module was replaced by CRF (request form).

However, during this process, the withholding tax precaution was removed, thus, the system shows a total passport tax of 36,720.

The FBR said that the issue was brought to the notice of the Director (R&A) in Karachi and Block was investigating the issue to resolve the issue and recover the previous salary / tax. The problem will be resolved on Sunday afternoon.

Due to the non-functioning of this system, the excess amount will be refunded immediately to the higher payers.

The FBR apologizes for the inconvenience caused to people in paying exorbitant fees and taxes.
